About eight to ten months ago, I was utterly confused by the actions
Paul Revere Devin Nunes. Why did he do a midnight run to the
White House? Why was he desperately trying to carry water for Trump? I
get that he's a Republican. But why go to stupafying lengths to try
and derail the investigation? And it was stupafying. I later learned
that he was part of the transition team. So maybe the literal extra
mile that he went compared to the other GOP comrades in trying to
derail the House investigation was the extra loyalty he felt towards
Trump because of his involvement with the transition team.
Still, it didn't quite make sense that he would risk his political
career with such comically clumsy, Clouseau-esk, renagade Revere run.
Well, he was sidelined in the House committee and with fits and starts
it went on with Gowdy replacing Nunes.
Then all of a sudden about 2 weeks ago or so the attack on Mueller and
the legatimacy of his investigation intensified in the House. Now,
it's not just Nunes who's going the extra mile. Reps. Matt Gaetz
(R-Fla.), Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) and Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) and Jim
Jordan (R-OH) are all tripping all over themselves trying to make
Mueller go away. Why?
As the calls questioning Muellers integrity were intensifying Muellers
team let it be known that they had all the Email from the
transition. Previously, they had asked the transition team for emails
and the team handed over roughly 600 or so emails. During questioning
of one of the White House staffers, apparently, Mueller let it be
known that he had emails from during the transition - some 50,000
emails. This freaked out the transition team. On Saturday evening
Mueller's team put out a statement:
'When we have obtained emails in the course of our ongoing criminal
investigation, we have secured either *the account owner’s consent*
or *appropriate criminal process*' - Peter Carr, a spokesman for
Clearly, given the hissy fit the transition team lawyer is throwing,
it wasn't through the account owner's consent. So it must have been
through the criminal process.
Just what is in those emails for them to freak out like this? Another
oddity is that the White House lawyer is in Mueller appeasement mode
while the transition team lawyer is trying a full frontal attack on
Mueller's integrity. Why are those two lawyers reacting differently?
I get why Devin Nunes and Trey Gowdy would be flipping out over
Mueller. I still can't figure out why Jim Jordan is going nuts. How is
As someone I know likes to say, 'The E in Email stands for *Evidence*'.
